Dr. Dearth is originally from Illinois, attending Arizona State University in the mid 1970's, graduating in 1976 with a Liberal Arts degree in History, later resuming his education to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, graduating in 1987. Following graduation, he married Jan and they moved to Arizona to establish a Chiropractic office in Tempe. Dr. Dearth continued his education completing advanced post graduate programs in Whiplash treatment through the San Diego Spinal Research Center, Board Certification in Acupuncture through the New York Chiropractic College, and receiving his advanced Chiropractic Sports training through Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Dearth is the illustrator of the first edition Activator Method Chiropractic Technique College Manual, which lead to his Advance Proficiency Rating in 1989 through 2020 and becoming an Associate Clinical Instructor of the Activator Method Chiropractic Technique for 18 years. Over the years, he was the Phoenix area City Director and later the Southwest Regional Director for the "Activator Method". More recently, Dr. Dearth became a Certified Instrument Adjuster through Neuromechanical Innovations, the developers of the Impulse and the newest ImpulseIQ instruments. Dr. Dearth utilizes the Activator, Impulse and ImpulseIQ instruments in his practice, coupled with FDA cleared Dynatronic Solaris Low Level Light Therapy, (aka: Laser therapy, Red light Laser therapy, Low Level Laser Therapy)which research shows can elevate cellular energy (ATP) to speed healing by reducing inflammation while opening secondary capillaries to improve circulation.

Dr. Dearth is involved in the American Chiropractic Association as a member, Arizona Association of Chiropractic as a long time member and Committee member of the Health Services and Insurance Committee, and member of the Palmer College Alumni Association, Arizona State University Alumni Association, and recent past member of the Arizona Industrial Commission Director's advisory committee on evidence based medicine.

Dr. Dearth is a Christian, attending Arizona Community Church in Tempe, Arizona. As a follower of Jesus Christ, he reaches out to others by demonstrating kindness and compassion through outreach, having worked in the Phoenix Neighborhood Christian Clinic in 2007, helping build a home in Juarez, Mexico for a poor family through Casa's Por Christo in 2008, and traveling in 2009 to serve on a medical mission trip to treat people in centuries old villages in the southern mountains of Armenia.
